How to Measure the Drag Your System Is Actually Running — and What Deliberate Simplification Requires

Structural Reframe
The public post demonstrated two things: what complexity actually does to an organization beyond slowing it down — specifically, how it redistributes power toward people who can navigate the system and away from people closest to the work — and where that process ends if left unaddressed. What it didn’t deliver is the applied layer: how to measure the drag your system is running right now, where complexity has concentrated authority in ways you haven’t mapped, and what a real simplification intervention looks like versus the kind that produces the appearance of simplification without changing the underlying structure.
